"In all of the work produced by the press, a visual space is created in which the reader/viewer is an active participant. The type is to be viewed, the imagery to be read, and vice versa. The choices of text, imagery, materials, and binding style are made entirely in support of the specific environment of the printed piece."![]() |

Wild Girls Redux: An Operator's Manual is the revisit of a book created almost 12 years ago. It predecessor, How to Become One of the Original Wild Girls, was designed and printed in 1997. The intent of the "Operator's Manual" is tongue-in-cheek and provides the ordinary, mechanical, and absurd rules of how to operate women.

BODY OF INQUIRY made by Casey Gardner, Set in Motion Press. It was letterpress printed and hand bound triptych with sewn codex. Materials consisted of oil-based ink, pastel, faux leather and 100% cotton paper.
It is a book of display and intimacy opening to a large format with tiny details investigation the marvel of out physicality.
The content of the books has it's importances to the beholder. But the presentation of the content is whats important to us. The three artist's books I have chosen are all letterpress with photo-polymer plates.
The concept of the books of have selected is a females view of societies view. The books I have selected were made by female book artist with a general visual image of the female body, whether it be in positive or negative context.
Besides the context of the books, I was extremely interested by the tactile qualities and craftsman ship. The bite the set type takes into the the paper to the different techniques used in the processes. The uses of different materials printed on.
